Meet the board
We’ve had a couple new board members join us in the past year (and a few left us) so we thought it a good time to introduce us all! Let’s start with the newbies:
Welcome Sannalee Solem. Here is what she shares:
“Thanks for asking me about my connection to Humble Roots and why I wanted to join the Board. Here is my answer: My husband David and I were taking steps to move out of state and buy a pecan farm in Arizona in 2021/2022. That work and those plans came to an abrupt end and we returned back to our Milwaukie home in June 2022. In August of 2022 we went to our first Saturday CC at Pista’s house… When we came home after an afternoon full of welcoming hugs, a Kundalini yoga class, a little bag of sweet goodies, a jar of crème fraiche, and a dozen of Emma’s eggs… I turned to David and said… this community may be the reason we stay in Portland.
The high and sovereign vibe of the members of this community are incredibly inspiring to me. I want to be a part of and help grow all that feels true and beautiful in this community.
I was inspired to learn about the Board because I wanted to understand how decisions are made, and what the broader vision is for Humble Roots. I asked if I could attend a couple meetings and it became clear to me that I wanted to help support and move this community forward in its co-creative visions and joining the Board was a way I could offer my support.
I wish to co-create with the entire community a thriving ecosystem of reciprocal, responsible and regenerative high vibe relationships, where we turn toward each other to co-create new systems and structures and solutions for our new earth. I wholeheartedly embrace Humble Root’s Four Pillars of: Reciprocity, Awe, Service & Self-Study. I encourage everyone on the Signal channel to explore these concepts, and step into as much commitment they feel called to making in offering their own unique and beautiful energy to this sacred vessel and co-creation we are calling Humble Roots.
Welcome Grant Stampfli. Here is what he shares:
“I joined the HRM board because I want to help the ever-expanding network of autonomous farmers, ethical practitioners and sovereign freedom fighters create something brilliant for our future.
Humble Roots is a pro-active participant in a burgeoning movement to decentralize the agriculture, health and education systems. My intentions are to facilitate the next stage of growth for the organization. I see an opportunity on the technical side to build a website marketplace for members to find small artisan farms and acquire high quality food products. We are quickly approaching a critical mass that will soon produce breath-taking changes few can now imagine.”
Meet Founding Board Member, Nik Merrick:
“In consideration of my personal intentions for my part in the creation of our Humble Roots Community, I am drawn to contemplate Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs. The five levels of the hierarchy are Physiological Health, Physical Safety, Love/Belonging, Self Esteem, and Self-Actualization.
Missing explicitly from this list is one that is a central axis point of all the aforementioned aspects, and that is a sense of Purpose.
Purpose finds balance and harmony between the largely internal elements previously listed and how those are focused in our efforts to create and manifest change in our surrounding environment.
Our collective inspiration came at the advent of the Covid era in early 2020. Surrounded and bathed in low vibrational division, fear and chaos, our core group magnetically attracted and formed like pilot lights through the fog to find collective hope and strength, love and kinship.
When we gathered, we felt a sense of common understanding and values. In the beginning, in opposition to the outside normative forces, and as time went on, much more in higher frequency and common advocacy for simply living a better life. A life free of domination systems, self deception, oppressive thought patterns and in unity of personal, familial and spiritual liberation.
In seeking to manifest change,we worked together to develop systems in Source centered health, Source centered family and child rearing, Source center economy, Source centered food and natural stewardship, Source centered spirituality and Source centered community.
In this process, I found myself for the first time experiencing Purpose beyond my own domestic family, a purpose to to serve our greater community and through this action collectively manifesting Source centered change in our common reality.
For me, Humble Roots Ministry has birthed within me, the gift of Purpose in helping to make our shared reality a more loving and heart centered experience.
This is what I strive to engender within my own being and this is what I hope to inspire within my fellow humankind.
In Love, In lak'ech = In love, I am another you.”
Meet Founding Board Member, Christopher Hood:
“For me, Humble Roots Ministry grew from this need to hold space for fellow community members who shared a common belief: That we are all free and sovereign individuals who reject tyranny and live without fear.
A brief history:
In the summer of 2020, our family decided to pull our children out of school. After being disillusioned by the educational system at the time, and with a little help from Covid, we began our journey to homeschool our children. The decision seemed daunting but necessary.
Prior to this, a growing number of parents had been meeting to oppose Oregon's proposed mandatory childhood vaccination schedule. This group, known as "Turning 180", decided to create it's own path for inspired learning alternatives for our children.
As this small group grew into a community, some of us saw the need to secure more sustainable alternatives to conventional systems such as health, healing, finance, food, farming, land and learning. This was the inspiration that led to the formation of our private ministerial association, Humble Roots Ministry.
I hope to create deeper, meaningful relationships and build a strong community of resilient individuals who can nurture and support each other regardless of the challenges we confront from the State, the government or the world at large. I want to help awaken others to the possibilities of a parallel life path that doesn't rely on our complete dependence on these entities and systems. A path that fosters the elevation of one's vibrational frequency to reach a healthier, more deeply rooted, mind, body and spirit.”
Meet Founding Board Member, Belinda Tung:
“For me, the idea of creating Humble Roots Ministry was a result of the perfect storm - where I was in my spiritual journey/self development at the time, the shenanigans of Schmovid and finding out about Private Membership Associations that enable people to come together and build up new systems that are outside of government jurisdiction. This is a right of every individual. Then, to meet like- minded families that were already actively moving forward in creating a new, more beautiful reality, it absolutely felt right to create Humble Roots Ministry, a Private Membership Assocation. I see the mission of Humble Roots Ministry as a (Re)volution - evolving into something new, yet also returning back to Source and our original beingness which is unconditional love.
In this space, I would love to sink more deeply, in community, into the internal work of being and expressing unconditional love. I believe that is what’s needed most to transform humanity. Also, my heart is with the children so I would love to co-create with those that can dare to dream of something bigger and better for all children to be able to shine, be comfortable in their own skin and always stay connected to their intuition.”
Meet Founding Board Member Jennifer Pitcairn:
“A group of parents gathered together in 2020 as a result of the societal and educational changes that happened with the pandemic. We started home school pods and a new community. This community grew into a thriving and loving group. We invited more people to join us and the group became bigger than just a place for our children to learn. We started to meet weekly for Community Circle. A group of us decided that we wanted to create a community for other like-minded individuals seeking sovereignty. We decided to form Humble Roots Ministry, a private membership association. We created a board of directors and discussed what do we want to create for our members. The focuses that we came up with were sovereignty in education, food, finances and healing. We want to continue to bring more people together who are interested in creating something different than what is currently happening in the world. We are stepping outside of the system and making something very special.
Creating this group has been rewarding in some many ways. I have some deep friendships with people in our group. I have not often had this depth of relationships with others prior to this group. We all want to make positive changes to the world. And, we are there for each other. We are all sharing our information with each other. I feel so blessed to be a part of this community.
I would like this community to continue to grow and develop with conscientious people that want to create a different life outside of the current system. I would like us to be able to help each other with creating healthy food, alternative learning sources for our kids and be a resource for health knowledge and practitioners that honor the bodies ability to be healthy. We would love to have more people get involved to help us make a difference in our world.”
That makes up the six of us! Please feel free to reach out to any of us with questions/comments/suggestions/ideas…we are open to it all. Thanks!
